Fixing a finding
What a fix note suggests, what it can’t do, and when the claim is Shopify’s alone.

What a fix note is
Every finding comes with a short note under “What to fix.” It only ever suggests a change to your own listing. It never promises that Shopify’s summary will change, because we can’t edit it, and nobody outside Shopify can.
By finding type
- Contradiction, about an ingredient or a free-from claim. Your description or ingredient list mentions something Shopify’s summary describes as absent. You may want to name it earlier and more plainly in your description.
- Contradiction, about an age, size, SPF or count. Your own listing states a different number. Consider checking which one is accurate, and put the right one in your title or product details.
- You never said this. Shopify’s summary describes something your listing doesn’t mention. If it’s accurate, consider adding it in your own words. If it isn’t, there’s nothing to change in your copy. The claim is Shopify’s.
- Invisible to AI. The product wasn’t found in Shopify’s shopping-agent catalog search. There’s no confirmed way to request inclusion, and the criteria aren’t published.
- Matches you. Nothing to do. It’s there so you know what’s right.
When the claim is Shopify’s alone
Sometimes your copy is already clear and Shopify’s summary still says something else. Then there’s nothing to fix on your side, and the note says so. Keep the finding: if it changes, we’ll tell you.
After you edit
We re-check a product after you edit it. Shopify’s summary can take a while to catch up, so we hold alert emails about that product for up to 72 hours before telling you anything changed.
Copying both versions
“Copy both versions” puts Shopify’s text and yours on your clipboard, quoted exactly, so you can paste them into a note for your team or a message to Shopify Support.
